Hi Guys,

I'm off to Bangkok this afternoon with the missus for a weekend of R&R.

Been there before for a couple of days and done the temple bit.

Just looking for some advice from anybody whose been there lately as to whats good to do there.

Looking to do a boat trip down the river ( The klongs or something like that), but don't know of much else really.

Any advice appreciated.

If you want something totally different there is a Tiger Zoo about 2 hours out of Bangkok where you get to actually hold/give the baby tigers milk from a bottle. You also see a pig, dog and tiger co-habitating. We found the trip great fun especially as I love tigers - Sriracha Zoo. Type in tiger zoo Thailand on google to read up some more if you're interested.

A restaurant recommended to us was Vertigo - supposed to be excellent but book when you arrive as it gets very busy. It was booked up when we were there - apparently fabulous views. One we did go to was Cabbages and Condoms - some profits go to help the local community and it was a nice restaurant.

When you take your boat ride make sure he doesn't drop you off at a place where you then have to pay another guy for the use of his pier!! We got stung with that one!

Appart from that, we too just relaxed around the pool and chilled out.

Have a good one!

Thanks CiderQueen.

Actually the tiger sounds interesting and something I would love to see. Although, remembering a trip to a north Queensland crocodile farm and seeing the look on my wifes face as she held a baby crocodile with its mouth taped closed still makes me laugh. Still bring out the photos when a good payout is deemed necessary. ahahahha

I suspect her main motives will be to hit the shopping areas.

Thanks also for the restaurant info and advise about the river trip.

Thanks for your comments.

You will be quite surprised we had the baby tiger running havoc around the photo area. It wasn't at all inhumane and great to watch.

Enjoy your trip.

Hey Johny, if you like restaurants, go to this one called Sirocco. Wonderful ambience.

Bangkok for women would be shopping mainly- visit all the night markets and going for cheap couples SPA/massages.

Hi pinacolada, do you have a recommendation for a couple spa in Bangkok?

The wife and I are going there in a couple weeks and would like to go to one that is safe and clean.

Thanks......

Thanks Pinacolada,

I'm hardly a food critic, but went to a rest. called Mango Tree. I enjoyed the food there and the atmoshpere.

Also had a thai massage, never done that before, and much different from the ones in Shenzhen. Well worth the money for that too.

Actually went on a trip up the river. Admittedly missed the floating markets, and was quite bored with the whole experience to be honest.

But all in all, a great relaxing weekend, even wasn't too bothered by tagging along during the wife's shopping expedition.

Hi beer guy, I can't remember off hand but it would be good to speak to some locals on their recommendations. Most hotels offer good spa service, much cheaper than similar hotels in HK/Singapore.

If you have time, learn up on the thai numbering system as it would alert if you the place is overcharging for foreigners.
