We don't know. Not enough material to go on. No doubt, the Australian Government will have to satisfied by objective evidence that he's telling the truth before granting asylum.

Another BJ story. Heaps of people told us that the party line is that it was the "accident at Tiananmen Square", not massacre. Although one young student (probably in nappies when it happened) told us "there was a lot of blood, but they didn't show it on TV". Apparently, to get into university in China, students have to answer a lot of political questions and if they say "massacre" or similar, instead of "accident", they don't get in.

I suspect that it doesn't matter if he is telling the truth or not - he is definitely in big trouble if he goes back to China.

I think it does matter. If he's lying to try to get political asylum, then who cares if he gets into trouble when he's sent back? He deserves it.

apparently he has also asked the american govt' for asylum...be interesting to see how they handle it.
