Hi All,

Is Surabaya near to any good diving/beach resorts ?

Can I take a boat easily from there to somewhere nice ?

Is there anything to do in Surabaya itself ?

Bromo volcano is a couple of hours away I think. You can probably do a hike up there for sunset or some such like.

Oh. And Madura island is fairly close but never been there.

Good question. I'd been wondering myself.

Sorry - never been then; I've only done Bali in Indonesia.

don't think you 're going to do a lot of diving in Surabaya;

a flight to Lombok costs a few hundred HKD, and you have more options there. We did Gili Meno for a few days last year, which is an island on a reef, it was fantastic; night diving, dirt cheap and very relaxed;

Rack's rack is endowed with physics-defying anti-gravity powers. NASA has been demanding access to study this phenomenon.

happy birthday

not at all, I just can't see anything interesting in Surabaya, especially for diving; there is a vulcano/waterpark-ish thing about 1.5 hour drive from Surabaya, but I wouldn't think you'd go diving there; We tried the south coast, and there is simply nothing; it's very nice to drive around if you like the scenery and some tempels or stuff, but to go diving in Surabaya ? not sure;

So Lombok is a quiet island, very authentic, and has several little islands around, you can see the Bali vulcano, but you're paying just a fraction of the price;

Hi Geraldo

Just form the bit of reserach I have done it does look rather dull.. so my next question is, are my only options to then fly onto Lombok or can I take a boat ?

Is there no other islands closer to Surabaya with a beach and hut style accomodation ??

lombok by boat will take you a while;

Madura is an island just off Surabaya, we've been considering it a few years ago but dropped out to Lombok at the end, can't remember why;

Happy Birthday the Rack! May you continue being as Beautiful as you are! May your racks be forever cherished, fondly loved and nurtured

Happy Birthday! The following is an astrological forecast for the year ahead for those born today, Tuesday, March 14 2006. If today is your birthday, this is our gift to you. If it's not, feel free to send it on to any loved ones celebrating their birthdays today with our blessings!
Your Birthday Forecast - March 14 - You'll present an entirely new version of yourself to the world this year, for your discipline and determination have transformed every level of your being. Your intuitive Pisces nature will urge you to look beyond others' differences for common ground, which will infuse relationships with balance and serenity. Take a class designed to enhance your creative talents, for this will provide you with a new framework for self-discovery and spiritual growth. Say no to people who attempt to dump all their responsibilities on you so you can spend more time nurturing yourself. Your spirit guide this year is the Frog, which will encourage emotional cleansing and the clearing of clutter from your mind, heart and spirit. Find a way to afford a well-deserved vacation some time in the next few months to restore balance in all you do. Meditate with green candles, stones or flowers to increase your earning power. Your lucky months are April and June. Your lucky numbers are 1, 13, 23, 34 and 40.

Happy Birthday, Pisces! You believe in things that you cannot see or touch. You believe in long shots – and may even be one yourself. Never content to obediently accept the status quo or traditional mores, you wander off in pursuit of unique adventures and fantasies. Your amiable personality may conceal a lifelong search for meaning. You’re a smoldering force of nature – quiet, but seething with dramatic power. You seem to have a bemused view of the world. As personable as you can be, you’re also capable of standing on Mount Olympus and thinking in objective, universal terms. You’re able to blend daily concerns with hermetic truth. No matter how scientific your background, you pay homage to the unknown. Your deep insight understands that not everything can be fully explained using existing scientific tools. Your ideas may shake up long-standing theories – and threaten people who resist change. You’re not motivated by ego gratification. You’re more driven by a childlike desire to explore the unknown. You love plunging into mysteries – much like an explorer scout. It’s essential that you eat fresh, healthy foods instead of junk snacks, and engage in moderate exercise. Avoid processed, salty foods because they can aggravate fluid retention. You also benefit from gentle foot massage, even if you have to perform it on yourself. Although you’re a card-carrying sensitive Pisces, your temperament resembles that of a courageous mountain goat. You’re rarely satisfied with predictable routines, and rest only briefly on a plateau linking one achievement to the next. Each taste of victory makes you desire even more. As you continuously raise the bar of excellence, your life expands by leaps and bounds. Your relationships dramatically shift, reflecting your ongoing personal and professional evolution. Born today are Diane Arbus, Frank Borman, Michael Caine, Paul Ehrlich, Albert Einstein, Quincy Jones, Billy Crystal, Rick Dees, Horton Foote, Taylor Hanson, Penny Johnson, Chris Klein, Kate Maberly, Walter Parazaider, Wolfgang Petersen, Jim Pons, Prince Albert of Monaco, Meredith Salenger, Kevin Williamson, Les Brown, Casey Jones, Hank Ketcham, Johann Strauss, and Anita Morris
