I'm just wondering if anyone out there is looking for a full-time helper. We are leaving HK at the end of July and are hoping to help our Indonesian helper find another employer so she can stay on in HK.

She's been with us since the beginning of this year and has been by far the best helper we've ever had (and we've had quite a few!). She does not have to return to Indonesia and can start working for you from the day we leave Hong Kong because the reason we are terminating her contract is due to our leaving HK for good.

We have 2 children (4 years old and 7 months old) and she's excellent with them. Both our kids love her and she also seems to genuinely like them and is concerned for their well-being (rather than the fakey plastered on smile that so many helpers put on in front of employers). That's probably her strongest point - the fact that she's so good with our kids. She's pretty good with cooking South-East Asian stuff, but as far as Western cooking goes, can only make a darn good spaghetti with bolognaise sauce. I have no complaints about her other work either, although I don't place as much importance to keeping my flat spic & span so am not too fussed when it's not 100% spotless.

I worry about her going to just any 'evil' agencies out there and end up with some employers who will exploit her easy-going and non-confrontational nature. She's desperate to stay on in HK as she needs the income to support a large family, so I'm afraid she might sign the first offer she gets, landing herself with a bad employer.

Please contact me if you're genuinely interested in employing an Indonesian helper (I need her till the end of July). She can't speak too much English, but is fluent in Cantonese and Putonghua.

Thank you.

Hknet - I am not replying to the ad but I suggest you remove your email address from the site and people can contact you just by clicking your name. That's coz there are engines that pick up email addresses from forums and spam you.

Thanks for that advice, Gumtree, but how do I pick up email messages from here? Remember, I'm a techno moron.......

It goes to the email you registered with. So it is probably the same one you posted. Btw - can you send me one telling me how much you pay your helper? Also would she be interested in a place without young children. We are vaguely looking at having a live-in, as I hope to be working soon... wishin'and hopin'

Also you need to have selected YES (I think it is the default one) on your profile to the question "will you accept email from other members" or something like that. Top left of profile screen.

Hi Gumtree,
I think you've lost me somewhere. I tried getting into my profile but am barred from it - it says my password is invalid. But as far as I can remember, I only have a one-password-that-fits-all for things like this because I'm so sick of having multiple passwords for everything, making me confused and confussed.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I'm more than happy to email you, but would it be okay for you to email me on this site and see if I can get the message, and then I'll reply to that email message? I'm sure she'd be happy to have a job (she told me ANY job) in HK, but bear in mind that her English is almost non-existent. She has some basic vocabulary, but almost zilch comprehension when you use sentences.

Just sent you an email as a test. You better get Server to check your profile access.

hknet, just a few weeks late to post this ...

We've been looking for an Indonesian maid for months now, and finally were able to sign one, however still not very convinced, and our firstborn baby should show up in the next couple of weeks ...

maybe you can contact me if you don't receive the email I did try to send
