I just moved to Hong Kong and recently saw an apartment on the peak that I really like. My concerns are that I hear it's really damp up there and about half the time you'll be shrouded in fog (the place is about 10 min walk from the peak tram station). Also, the place seems only about half-occupied even though the building and facilities are very nice. Are people generally less willing to live on the peak? If so, what are the reasons?

The horrific expense mainly, I'd guess.

Even if I could afford it, I wouldn't — it's the thought of all that traffic down that one narrow road, with all the tour buses clogging it up all the time. Even if you're planning on using the Peak tram to commute... no way. There are hundreds of other flats just as nice in areas far more accessible.

Agreed... I've witnessed the peak tram just sailing by the stops several times when they're busy (all 4 times I've been on it). It's humid everywhere in HK all summer long, but prolly a little worse up there... besides, it's as dear as poison Plenty more accesible areas for my dough.

If you can afford to live up there the cost of a dehumidifier or two is but a drop in the ocean, surely. I actually quite like the Peak when it's cold and foggy but I may be in a minority

Also consider that with the poor air quality these days the view is not what it used to be.

Yeah, apart from the fog, there's not much there, really.
