Have you checked if he has a bible somewhere?
There is a youth movement around promoting this philosophy and they are the charismatics.
Your own attitudes could have created a backlash. It is common for kids to want to be different from their parents.

It's also possible that if this is true (highly unlikely) that this is caused by one's mothers raving femenist (ie: Sexist) views. He sounds like he's been emasculated completely. Another possibility is that he could be (not trying to be a smartarse here) in the closet. I have a fairly vivid picture of this kid in my head (you've described him in some detail here). So I think it's a real possibility if he is not so desperate to have sex that he'll wait until he's married, I mean, cmon, who does that?
The most likely scenario is that he's bulls**tting you so he can bang all night down the hall
