The so called "die hard" United fans have never been happy with the ownership of the club.
When the Edwards family was in control they bitched and whined, when United was listed on the Stock Exchange it was the end of the world and now United has been taken over by Glaxer it's the end of the world again.
There is no way Glazer is investing to lose money he obviously sees huge potential in the United brand worldwide. If fans decide they don't want to buy season tickets or go to the games there are plenty of other people to fill their shoes.
I have a cunning plan ........

but does he understand that (english) football works differently to (american) football. Success in the brand is directly linked to success on the pitch - not just in the home territory of the club but worldwide. I don't have the figures but how much of Utd's merchandising income comes from outside the UK.
Having said that I'm always supprised how big a piece of the pie the turnstile receipts represents - and with his plan to hike up the ticket prices (by upto 25% for CL games i believe) maybe he know's what he's doing after all.
Guess I'll have to keep on watching the old Treble Video for the next season or 2 at least.
