you know, gum tree... since i got married, i've turned into a right old sop... i never cried at anything before... at one time i was making fun of my bro & mother because they cried for everything... then i got married and all that changed...i welled up again reading your post!
i have that kind of relationship with my own mum... i still talk to here at least everyday on the phone... sometimes twice a day... and she's in Canada....

Go for it girl! No better best friend for a woman than a mum who you can talk to! Use it, ok? My girl still gets p**sed off with me but ... that doesn't matter. I know that she is just as much there for me as I am for her ... but I choose to take on a bigger burden of the relationship until I can't anymore. You must be just as gorgeous a daughter as mine is, btw.

thanks, i hope so...
i've been in hk for 11 years now... i rarely get "home"sick...i get "mum"sick...
last time i saw her was about a year ago, when my son was only 5-6 months old... he's now a toddler or 15 months... he's changed so much and i get so much joy from watching him grow and learn and becoming a little boy, i really wish that my mum could see him as i know she would fall madly in love with him and he with her. i really wish she could see him now and get to know him...
i know, i'm being silly, and he won't even remember as he gets older that he didn't know her when he was a baby, but still gets me down....

OK - here is some potential grandma advice - what I have learnt from seeing my own kids with my parents. My own grandparents died before I was born, so I thought it important that my kids met their grandparents.
My kids were the youngest of their grandkids - 18th and 19th. They now have 10 great-grand kids.
When I speak to my children? The thing they focus on with their grandparents are kindness and acceptance for who they are. But? the other really important things are sensory. They will always remember Nanna's scent ... she used the same scent for years. And Poppa's hair. So fine, they loved to sit on his lap and run their hands through his hair. They would make it stick up in a curl and kid him about it.
These things, and the way they showed they loved them, are what they will keep with them.
BUT ... kids need reminding and pictures and stories. Doesn't matter how many times you visit, just take note of what is good and keep the stories alive.
