As far as I know, Pieter flies his fresh Dutch supplies in about once a week or so. He normally has grey schrimps, herring, smoked eel, various original Dutch cheeses and mussels fresh in stock.
But, as there's no "R" in the month right now, you may have to wait for mussels until September. Best to give him a call and check.
It's tough to recommend a favourite dish, as he changes his menu almost daily, but the abovementioned delicacies are normally always available. (The lamb fillets in puff pastry was excellent last time)
BTW: I just checked the sample menu on the website, and the Steak Tartare is listed.... [:p]

Kiwi lamb would be my guess. As far as I know it's still the best lamb available. (I'm no chef though, GdV may disagree with me...)

adfundum, I have to agree, tho I am no Kiwi. Most contented sheep, grown in the purest pastures.

Agree on the quality of kiwi lamb, but long time ago, living in Euroland, I had a deep love for Texel Lamb also. In a French resto on the isle (forgot the name of the place). And was only a 90 minute flight with my ole Piper Cherokee Archer. YUMM.

Ahhh Texel, haven't been there in many years... I travel to Euroland on a fairly regular basis (twice a year or so) but never quite find the time to relax and check out the old haunts.
Having said that, I normally do try to fit in a quick trip to Achouffe in the Ardennes for some delectable Lachouffe beer and wild boar dinners. Wild boar stewed in Lachouffe, to die for! [:p]
I'm trying to persuade Stephen at Belgian Beers to include some Chouffe in his next shipments, so I/we may indulge...

Got it loud and clear. Who said they didn't speak/understood Flem/Dutch in the Belgian Walloon Ardennes? Even in France nowadays they speak (?) ENGLISH... Holy cow...

Are there any wild boar left in Euroland? Reminds me of Asterix.

Off you go then, ws. But before you do - whereabouts in Euroland? It's a big place, sorta.

Wasn't Obilix that big guy who carried around rocks? I meant, where are there wild boars????? I thought Euroland was pretty tamed. Except for parts of Russia.

Obilix ate boars for breakfast, lunch, dinner.Ooh, and in between he also had some as snacks. lol. But yes, in Euroland we still have great meat and we also avoid outback mad cows, ... and yes we enjoy great steaks tartare. "honni soit qui mal y pense".

something thinks badly about something? I wish you'd stop that. As me old mum would say 'don't stretch my brain, it's gotta last'. Try German next time, k?
