Don't waste your money with Lingauphone. You can download a lot of the Pimsluer courses for free on-line.

Chubby - now I am in my teacher mode, excuse me. But you need to consider ways of learning. Most people are highly visual - so you need books and pictures and things like that, a lot are more kinaesthetic and need to do things, writing, speaking, acting etc. And a lot are more aural - need to hear. Most are a combination of all three - so using a linguaphone (especially for tonal languages, like Cantonese) and using books and writing etc will all add up. Or else go to classes where they should do all three.

How do your know your 'preferred' mode? Think about the situation where you really have to get somewhere in a hurry. Would you prefer a) to read a map/instructions carefully, b) get a general idea of where to go and head off or c) ask someone to give you instructions?

That's why some people get p*ssed off with people who ask simple questions on forums: visual people are happy to look things up for themselves, kinaesthetic will search and/or go to the place to find out and aural people, like me, prefer to ask others.

End of lesson. My god, I have got to get a job.

okey I was just with the linguaphone shop this afternoon and almost fall down from the chair when they told me that it cost me more than 9K HK$ for the Dutch Lesson I want to take!!![:0][:0][:0]

Actually I want to go for a language lesson for this, but I have no idea which school(in Hong Kong) to go through besides of those online and do it yourself study.

Chubby,

It's strange why you still went to Linguaphone in Hong Kong to purchase a language course, despite being given good advice as to where you could get many free by simply downloading them from the Internet.

Tell you what, why don't you give me 2K HK$ and I will download a course for you?

HK expert, thanks for the advice but I drop by there to see, as what I always say you dont know much unless you experience it yourself.

Anyway I think going to a certain school is better than do it yourself study, so thats what I need to find out if I can be able to get Dutch language school in HK.

Why not have Mac read and talk to you and let it soak in - learn as kids do by repetition not the formal way until you pick up conversation.

ok, reading and writing - if not for hearing since Mac is doing that, try books that teach basics. Got one from local secondhand store here for $35 but seen some good ones by Berlitz for French, Spanish, etc. for about $100 at Dymocks. They are very professional and I like the approach of the Essential (Spanish, etc)...... series.
