GDV

The jail is full from fillipinos waiting for deportation. They usual report each other when they angry each other. And then of course the employer is in trouble as well. I wouldn't take the risk.

As the others have said, j_hk, you'll need to look into getting yourself a local helper and not a foreign domestic helper.
From: http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/faq_fdh.htm

Q19: Can an FDH live away from his/her employer's home?

A19: No. An FDH should work and reside in the employer's residence in accordance with Clause 3 of the Standard Employment Contract (ID407). The employer is required to provide the FDH with free accommodation as per the standard specified in the "Schedule of Accommodation and Domestic Duties" of the employment contract.

(Employers who have obtained the Director of Immigration's approval before 1 April 2003 to let their FDHs live out can continue to do so, so long as they continue to employ FDHs without a break of more than 6 months.)

There are usually quite a few women who are listed on the labour department's site providing this kind of work.

http://www.jobs.gov.hk/eng/default.asp

Good luck!

There are plenty of "foreigners" (i.e. Filipinas etc) who do have the right to work as a live out helper - mostly they are wives of permanent residents.

Er, I'm not a PR, and Mrs FOTH is an accountancy student not a DH, and she doesn't live in Hong Kong. Apart from that - correct in every respect.
