I'll be moving to HK soon. I've never been there before and i would appreciate an advice on what are considered suitable locations to live in. My office is in North Point, and i'm looking for a studio not far from that area.

advise anyone?

thanks

Not sure where to guide you to exactly but luckily you will have lots to choose from near that area I'd say.

Google Star Street Hong Kong. That might give you some good info.

raed> Perhaps you could give some more info as to your budget/ amenities/ facilities you need or would like, you may get more suggestions. Just an idea. Good luck!

I'd say $10,000. per month but it's been ages since I helped anyone look. HK has a large share of depressing, dingy flats but there are nice ones so just be prepared to hunt.

bbcgirl, i'm not looking for anything fancy... need something decent thats all. I wouldn't mind if its 15-20 min away from North Point. But i really don't have no idea on what options i have. (I've never been to HK!) Is it better to live somewhere close to the office? is it nice living there? or is it better living somewhere further?

Chicago, when u say $10,000, is it 10,000 US$ per year or 10,000 HKD/month? and is that budget for a furnished, serviced studio?

thanks,

I'm talking Hong Kong dollars and yes, it would most likely be furnished including TV.

HK isn't really that big and the public transport system here (for most places excluding out in the sticks) is really good, cheap and fast. Another thing to consider is what kind of things are important for you to have, e.g. views/ close to shops/ with plenty of westerners or expats...etc.

thanks chicago.

bbcgirl, good to here that (about the transportation)... it doesn't have to be close to shops, and somewhere with expats would be good. I know HK is crowded in general, but are there any places not that crowded and noisy?

Give Lamma a look. Quite a few expats, not crowded, and quiet. Just a bit remote (you'll need to take a ferry).

King's Road

I googled Lamma... it's like 30 min away by ferry... right? A bit far i guess
