Yes, they do have 2 room shared "dorm" accomodation - my daughter only got it for one semester & had to move on to a multi-occupant (4 persons - I think) flat with kitchen, shower & toilet.

She was 'forced' in to this more expensive option solely because she 'didn't live far enough away from HKUST' !! - Like two changes of buses & Mass Transit Railway *&* 70-80 minutes of travel time for a one way journey STILL disallowed her from the cheaper accomodation.

Be aware that

1) They have hi-speed LAN connections to Internet.

2) They also have Wi-Fi in the major buildings.

3) AND most important - around AUGUST there's been a "Roadshow" allowing registered students the opportunity to buy - for the last 2 years at least - IBM computers at less than the "Street Price". This family has acquired one new T42 or T43 each year.

4) Be aware that EACH DAMNED YEAR - the distributor - PCCW has reneged on the promised computer delivery date of before the Semester starts - till several weeks AFTER the start of the Semester.

Only my vociferous complaints to IBM/PCCW and the local South China Morning Post (Newspaper) ensured that the computers and accessories were delivered ( to us) a FEW days later than ORIGINALLY specified.

Nota Bene : It pays to kick up a stink !

Those who don't - don't get their prepaid-for items anywhere near the specified date.

Personally, I don't think that PCCW / IBM or Lenova will have learnt anything from the fiascos of the last two years - so be aware of this situation - bring your own computer with its European style keyboard - and maybe get a NEW computer here to take back with you for later use/sale at a profit.

Waving your hands in typical Italian fashion won't get you anywhere. <Grin> ... You HAVE to hound the supplier the moment that they tell you the delivery has been delayed - multiple e'mails to PCCW & IBM and exposure in the SCMP was the ONLY way I found to get satisfaction !!

mmm...yeah... I knew that, but the university said that there is way too much request, therefore I might need the apartment anyway.....

thanks for the tips on the pc's...
I will arrive to hk just a week before semestre starts therefore I guess I will not manage to ask for that pc....
what about buying it in hk in a normal shop? they say in hk they are much cheaper than in europe anyway....

about waving hands....yeah... I hate this thing of us too.... I'm trying to stop, but...you know... it's hard to..... ;)

Just bought a new computer for my sister for about HK$3,500 about Euro350, so that should give you some idea of the price.

Apartments to share will range between HK$7,000 to HK$12,000 in the area, and should be able to accomodate 2 people at least.

Hope the information helps.

HKUST is too far from LKF, do an exchange program with HKU intstead or you will be missing out on LKF, or your classes...
