This is from a French man who has contacted me.....Hi,

"Here is what happened to me.

I went to VICS on July 14th 2004, with a few friends. After some time I sat down at a table to have a rest. Suddenly I was taken by 2 Bouncers, and kicked out of the disco I could not even tell my friends. The way this happed was with a level of violence and ruthlessness I have never seen anywhere else in the world. It was really a humiliating experience, and very painfull.

After I was kicked out, I was sitting outside VICS for some time talking to people outside the disco and complaining to them about this disco. They were telling me that these people have relations with the mafia... and that I should not speak like that, that it was dangerous... At that time i didn't understand what he meant.

I decided to cross the street and go to Mix for some time. I stayed there for about half an hour, then came out and went towards the gate to catch a TAXI. At this time 5 or 6 guys started to run after me, I ran towards the taxi stand and just after the gate I fell down. These guys then started kicking me in the ribs and all over the place. then they disapeared.

The guards at the entrance of the gate and some taxis were witnesses. I then called 110. 15 minutes later a police car came and took me to the police station for making a statement. They did not even talk to the guards to see if they knew who did it... I made my statement and then I went to chayang hospital to make an X-Ray. Luckily my ribs were not broken, but just bruised. It was very painfull for more than 4 moths.

I understood that nothing could be done with such coruption, and that they were all connected, the mafia, the police and the owners of the VICS discothec.

Unfortunately I have no witnesses to attest to all this but I do support your action. Let me know if there is something I can do, and I would love to hear what happened to the other people.

Bye,"

And this one from a "winner".....

"i had called the police the very night and pointed out
the boucers and manager who were all brought in. of
course it helped that my chinese wife and sister in
law came and put things in perspective those guys and
made it clear that all hell would break lose with
their boss. that's when they offered cash to drop the
complaint. 50,000 rmb later we settled.

yeah, sorry, but talking to your lawyer would have no
use as i gave a statement to the police that this was
a private matter settled between the two parties and
not a police matter. in fact, as i recall, the police
were happy to see us settle it and told my wife that a
negotiated settlement was what they would have worked
on, before going forward with criminal charges.
anyhow, a black eye and a few bruses left me crying in
my beer in thailand after they paid me off. that, and
of course i tell all my friends about the thugs at the
den."

And Another Who I spoke to over the phone...says he went to the police and embassy as well, this guy spent US$5000 on hospital bills, he was in there for 3 days.....

Hi there,

I am French and was beaten up almost to death mid september by those guys
you can call me anytime
see you
michel

Why do you guys even think of going to these places? How about going to the restaurants and bars in the big chain hotels instead?

hotel bars?
1. not fun
2. only hotel guest go there
3. expensive
4. clientel mainly fat old foreign men and young chinese working girls

Young people in any city of any country in the world will go to bars and dance clubs. Fact.

Sadly they are also fast becoming dangerous places. but this will never stop people going there. People want to be where other people are, people like themselves, living in Beijing, dancing, drinking, having fun.

This place Vic's is the type of club with main stream hip-hop spinning DJ's, mid-priced drinks, specials for girls, plenty of students, wealthy chinese youth, and maybe 40% foreign attendance. all of these things draw ans will continue to draw big crowds every night. And it is not fair that anyone should be to scared to go to a place which is meant for them.

I agree with Tinybear. You have the power to move venues. If a group decides to change locations to say a hotel, and then spread the word, then you can create the next hot spot. I have seen this happen. Unless it is a live band that is attracting you to a certain location, you can make or break any night spot.

I'm bored, I'm pi*sy, and, I have no shame.
