Anyone know of a place that sells modern looking chairs on HK island?
Done the whole Ap Lei chau / Ulferts / ikea / happy valley thing.
And cutlery! Any ideas?

There is a furniture shop in Soho, on the escaltor just below Caine Road. Don't know if it's any good though.
There are a few shops on Queens Road East, Wan Chai too.
It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than open ones mouth and remove all doubt.

You know the answer to that Chef. Different people have different budgets and different perceptions of quality.
Surely you are merely trying to elevate your status & wealth, but your HK$2500 budget would be measly for some in this town.

i paid my solid teak dining set at $800, second hand. i just needed to give it a good polish and a couple of layers of danish oil and it looked new again. if you have the time and patience, you might get lucky and find some really good stuff.

excuse me ? me elevating my status and wealth? dont you all know that i am just a Cheffie?, and for the record, i am also not sitting on 2500K chairs myself, but i dont call them good quality, just normal stuff which prolly lasts me no longer then few years.
theres no need to elevate my status im happy enough to be a simple guy, me dont wear no brand names, and the only "richness" i have in life are my wife and kids, and oh yes, almost forgot a never dieing fear of not having nice electronic gadgets

have you thought of using outdoor furniture chair as indoor dining chairs. there are a number of very nice dedon-style weaves which are available at very reasonable prices and look great indoors... i think even tequila kola is making generic copies now at very affordable rates.

think i'd have to agree with that, however tastes vary, maybe you prefer the wonton soup noodles? but dont expect it to be top quality, it 'll be goohood, but not top quality
now now i got some work to do ok...ciao ciao
