Really? A lot of the Village houses have open kitchen. And I know for a fact that some apartments (new by the builders) have open kitchens like the one in Hung Hom, why is that? Just curious.

all village house with open kitchen are illegal and you will be fully responsible for everything in case of a fire.

some of the new buildings have a open kitchen, but they have fireshutter installed in the ceiling instead a permanent firewall and the kitchen area is equipped with a sprinkler system.

Coyote, i am aware that she is moving out, but it is not very helpfull when you want sale if you have made an illegal modification to the apartment.

did you read about the fireshutter??? yes, i saw the same apartment in tv with open kitchen, did you also see the sprinkler system?

BTW, just read your lease (the lease is the condition how the goverment has sold the land to the developer) then you know everything about modification of your apartment.

can be done, but far away from easy. you need to apply by the BD and FSD, then maybe you will get a consent to do that. all calculation and drawings has to be made from an Registered Engineer. only the paperwork will cost you between 100-150k without any work done. sprinkler system will cost you again about 120k if the building management and BD allow to do so. Firshutter cost 40-80k , depending on size. so, no you can make your own calculation.
