I've stayed at the Shangri-la a few times (not the one near the big trade centre, the other one ) - pretty cheap and a nice hotel. As long as they've finished contruction on the new wing, as last time I was there, the dudes worked ALL NIGHT LONG!!! I swear to god! These bastards work 24 hours a day! and you think you have it rough!
Should get out of it for a couple hundren Yuen/niht or less.

I sometimes stay in Tianhong Plaza hotel, a Radisson hotel. Good quality for the price (about 500HKD per night)
