Has any Brit done this whilst in HK?

What's the procedure, who do you contact and what documents do you need? Will photocopies do of birth certificates or do you need the original?

It p**s easy

Take your completed form which you can get from the HK British consulate along with your old passport.. with about $900 and then a week later you have a new passport

As Massive Rattlers states it is a piece of pish and far easier than getting your passport in UK. The staff are incredibly helpful and if you have some requirement such as urgent business travel they will try & help.. You'll need passport photies as well but make sure you choose the correct back ground colour. (I can't recall but it says in the Consulate on the photo machine).

I did notice though, that back in 1997, when I had to get my name in the passport amended I was treated like s**t by the staff but all the caucasians there received much better service than I did. The same thing happened to my sister as well so am not looking forward to going over to renew my passport when it's time.

They've treated me like s**t on occasion too. Other times they've been great.

If you want to be really treated like s**te simply go to Heathrow airport and go through immigration. They are utter and complete c**ts of the first order.

Well, as I had just arrived in HK for under a week or so, I still had a stronger Brit accent than I have now, but that was no help...guess they saw the colour of my skin and well, didn't treat me in the same fashion as if I had been caucasian.

Manchester Airport was fine a few days after the security alert . There was no need to get there early and the queue for the xray/security machines was minimal.

It actually takes longer than a week now coz they are giving out the biometric passports,

These have your DNA code embedded inside so don't forget to take the sperm sample with you.

What if you forget the sample? Is there a little room with suitable "reading material" or do you just make your deposit at the counter?

I have a cunning plan ........
