thx in advance (and no this not a wind up).

We will consume 85 million barrels of oil today, what's going to be left for tomorrow?

Stayed here a few years ago. Not bad. Conveniently located.

I haven't stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne, so I can't vouch for the hotel itself but TB's right about the location. You can't beat it. It's just a bit of a pity that you won't be there in time for the AFL grand final. You'd never get a ticket to the event itself, but the entire city becomes a very special place at that time of year.

Regards, Sydney, it depends on what you're doing as Sydney is all over the place due to an almost complete lack of town planning over the last 200 years. IMO, xpat-Aussie is the man to speak to on all things S**t-knee.

stayed in the Swissotel Sydney on Market St. last year, it's nice. nice rooms and beds, very helpful staff and close to shopping area. but if your looking for views from your room it may not be your choice cuz it's in the middle of the city not down at Darling Harbour.

stayed at le meridien rialto in melbourne for a few nights... typical city hotel, big / expensive / soulless - indoor pool at the top...

the problem with living in asia is that hotels anywhere else are a disappointment - find it hard to spend the money that hotels cost in oz and europe for something that would probably pass as three star back in asia...

christmas in melbourne is going to be huge this year.... the ashes move to town for the boxing day test - sell your children to get tickets if you have to - should be a humdinger... am hoping to be at the G for the first day...
