i used to be really confident in shenzhen until i got rolled along the road leading up to immigration. it was a gang of pickpockets who stole my pda. i was lucky.
after operating an office in shenzhen for more than a year, i have to tell you that area attracts the lowest of the lowlife in china. spending money in lowu only leads to more. i went there for a massage. it is revolting too. i cannot believe people actually find the place to be relaxing. it is an odyssey...

I've never checked Barbie, unfortunately my local China Travel place is literally right next door to the local expat pub so I never seem to make it.............

For what it is worth I sometimes go through Lok Ma Chau. It's easy to get there using "minibus" from sheung shui. there are fewer people to deal with when you arrive so it is safer if you have cross border business and want to avoid lo wu.
how will lowu and hk deal with the crowds when disneyland opens?

I thought they were supposed to be mainland and local Asian crowds? I doubt if they would be interested in lowu when they can get the same stuff in their homeland for same prices.

China Travel isnt the only place to get a China visa. Grossman and co will pick your passport up at your home and deliver it back to you with visa. The cost for this service is only $30!

I use a place called Sunsky for my visas (located in Central). They have FREE pickup and delivery of your passport and can do it same day. Also, the prices for visas are cheaper than others I have asked around at.
Also, if you dont have a passport size photo of yourself, they will just scan the one on your passprt for extra $10HK to use for your visa.
The phone number is: 3426 9813

Sorry but I found China Travel Service at both Wanchai and Central to be obstructive/ignorant regarding expat visa for China/Shenzhen... wouldn't give me more than 3 month one even though I had HKID card.Their English is very poor and they were flat out just not interested or helpful .Why go to them when you can go to Japan Travel ,TST for much less ,and get a 12 month visa including delivery along main MTR line, much faster and much more politely? To me they exemplify eveything thats wrong with the travel industry here in HK...however there a exceptions thank heavens.
