I heard that it is possible to have X-ray machines at airports that show the naked body. Aside from it causing an increased interest in being an airport security person, what is the cost/benefit analysis of this? Does the naked body need to be seen for security?
OK - just found this is old technology thinking of being revived after the bombings, but the point remains ....
Btw Sabi - same person was saying the technology exists to have a functional id card and still preserve the privacy of the individual. I will try to find links.

in the grandscheme of things.. you have to admit it is funny. It gives a new meaning to going to the airport to catch a flight. I think I will start stuffing my bra and stuff like that, just for the fun of it. And then after passing through, stand on the otherside and watch other passengers.

you have no idea, I was trying to figure out why everyone goes to bangkok for Plastic surgery and my word, things are pretty cheap! but they also do a*s implants!
Can you imagine having an a*s implant and going through the detector in an airport and having them want to know what is stuck in your ass!

my mom told me about one of her friends who had a vibrator in her carry on. The lady is no spring chicken and security brought it out in full display wanting to know what it was while trying to open it!

Well, I can imagine some brain dead female deciding to have a silicon bomb planted in either places sometime in the future. Vibrators ... I sometimes think I am the only female in the world without one. Au natural, that is me... lol.

So, how much are you willing to give up of your right to privacy?
So, a suicide bomber could strap a bomb and enter an airport. Stand in the middle of a crowd of people waiting to check-in for a flight, and blow themselves up.
So if it was now a requirement to arrive at the airport, clad only in sport bra and boxers, would you comply? (don’t laugh, in the US there was talk of requiring people fly in their swim suits after 9/11, or not fly at all). Or would you argue that your right to privacy is being invaded?
Is flying a right? or a privilege?
In the columbine killings, the kids wore long trench coats to school. This enabled them to hide their weapons more efficiently. Since the killings, stricter dress codes have been enforced. In communities were people mask themselves to the point that you can't tell if the person is male or female, and wear such clothing that can hide an arsenal of weapons, vs the well fitted clothing (or barely none) that others wear, should their clothing be restricted? How much of your privacy should be invaded?

When you enter the army (US especially) you sign away your rights as a civilian. This is for security - so if air travel merits it, then why not have these measures in place and people can choose their trade-off curve between safety and privacy. Those airlines that offer different trade-offs can compete in the same way other services are being compared, security could be an item on the menu of course the price reflects this. Let the fun begin and let the market dictate.

Someone could swallow or implant their mobile phone and be detonated by remote! We'll need a full analysis of our insides more than what normal x-rays can show. I think eventually everyone might have to agree to be sedated before they could even board a plane.
Privacy is mostly about pictures in AS IS format, e.g. breasts, privates, etc. Say they could convert every bio and non-bio data on us to ASCII. Would that be more acceptable?
