Wow - how to respond to that???? I can easily imagine the scenario as he puts it. Amazing how so many kids can show brilliance in one area and total stupidity when it comes to looking at consequences.

it made me think.....here is this guy with a standard home pc which he has probably tweaked a little and there he is snooping around inside military data bases....and at the same time he can see that he's not the only one doing it! so what do people in other countries/governments do...with money at their finger-tips and very powerful pc's?

Hmmm npg,
This is going to be an argument for not wanting your personal info in a govt data base or on chip of an ID?

Npg,
Yes, in a way you have a point. Security is as good as its weakest link: the human factor.
Yes, read that credit card stuff. Mine is MC. The bank didn't offer to replace it. Have been checking my account since a while and all looks well.
*Sigh of relief*
Having fewer problems with personal basic info regarding my person but would NOT like a crook using my bucks because of a security breach. Exactly like I would not want having my picture on the net without my consent... That would be a bit too much for what I see as invading my privacy.
So, we all have different standards then.

Putting pictures on websites in HK without peoples consent is a common practice in HK.
Schools do it, language centres do it...and I'm certain other places must as well.
HK has a lot to learn about peoples privacy being respected.

I wait for the day when schools have all the funding they need and the airforce has to have a cake stall to raise money for a new bomber.

HSBC sent me a coding device to use in addition to my login pw and id. That works well as a hacker would not have that code which is different each time one clicks it, unless he/she knows the algorithm behind it.

the problem with the last credit card case was that a hacker targeted a company that processes transactions....i was led to believe they used a virus to do it?
