we're torn between schools - Kellet or Peak? - my hubbys company has a debenture at Kellet which we could use but there is only one and we have 2 boys we need to find schools for peak starts from year 1 and kellet starts from reception - so if another debenture came available there we've been told that we could have places for both in Kellet. any advice with which one to go with? looks like we will be living in Peak area. Help make my mind up please!!!

Can you buy a debenture from someone? Like club memeberships, I would imagine it's possible.
No kids here so I'm not of much help.
Catz?

Ash - if you get 1 child into kellet (via the debenture) then the sibling automatically goes to the top of the wait list. Have you discussed this with them ?

kellet say we need a debenture for each child and its a pretty hefty sum which is not refunded back after the kids finish their schooling - does anyone know whether ESF schools are audited/inspected on a regular basis? just want to understand how ESF primary schools are benchmarked for continous improvement

Yes ESF schools are audited.. and expectations are high... Not sure how long your fam staying in Hk- but many ESF schools now becoming IB schools..and PYP schools. Don't think Kellet has IB accreditation??

Both schools have excellent reputations. Go and visit each one and get an idea of the environment, the teachers and the students. Ask to speak to teachers and students if you can.

yep thanks, came over to HK last week and saw both schools - have applied to Peak and have my fingers crossed we get a place but was not sure about the processes ESF follow in terms of inspections and assessments -
Kellet get inspected regularly but felt a bit stiff and looked like a building site sitting next to a dual cariageway which put me off - Peak has lovely playground and football pitch - which i am sure my son will enjoy.

Ash, as far as i know, ESF schools don't have an established system for regular inspection, it's very much up to the school, principal, or each school council individually. some schools are more competitive than others, and i don't think peak is the competitive type. but that doesn't mean its quality is not as good as the others, or kellet. i do know that the kids in peak are a happy bunch, they do like to go to school and enjoy being there. for any kid under 10, i think that's what matters the most. especially when they need to get use to a new environment, make new friends...
u really don't have to worry about IB/A level.... quality assurance..... so early.
