Why do people always point the finger at Americans when they think of American Indians. Before America was America, it was full of a bunch of Brits (taking land and enslaving people who never did anything to them), French, who thought killing somone and showing your spoil by presenting their scalps was cool, and Spaniards (who performed Jihads in the name of catholicisim).

Considering the fact that England owns most of the land in the US, from now on, blame the Brits!

I'm bored, I'm pi*sy, and, I have no shame.

Life, like it or not, the US is more British than England in a lot of ways. But at least the Brits in the US and NZ did the decent thing and formed a treaty with the natives. Unlike Oz, where they declared "Terra Nullius" - ie, this land is not inhabitated by anyone. Total bullsh*t, but served the purpose of the day. Just served the indigneous people of Oz a severe blow that they are still recovering from.

I think the reason people blame the Americans for what happened to the Native American Indian is because it was over a hundred years after American Independence that the Indians started to get shoved into reservations miles away from anywhere where there was no arible land.

The rot may have started with the colonisation of the US lands buy the British, Dutch, Germans, Italians, French and Spaniards (oh and Portugese), but carried on well after all these people had left. Of course the people there we now call Americans today are in fact decendants of those people whether they like it or not!

Don't wait for your ship to come in, swim out and meet the bloody thing!

Well Life,
As far as I known the Govt was to blame. (nothing new).
In the special case of the American Red Indians (PC = Native Americans) there is one name that really f**ked the native population: Andrew Jackso & Administration. Seventh CEO of the USA. Has his pic on the 20$ dollar note if I recall well.

You might well blame the govt, but isn't it a govt of, by and for the people?

Those people then (Brits, French, etc) were not exactly aiming to assimilate into Indian culture (or am I wrong?). They also were not about to be driven away by the locals. Invader and settler mentality.

"By" part of the people yes, sometimes. Definitely by no means “for” the people. This is not bashing but a fact in most countries. Exceptions, if any, really are rare.
