Not sure if this helps

From TD website

http://www.td.gov.hk/transport_in_hong_kong/public_transport/buses/non_franchised/new_arrangements_on_cross_boundary_coach_services/index.htm

and this in Chinese

http://www.td.gov.hk/FileManager/EN/Content_297/crosstimetable.pdf

and this from Airport website

http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/cbt/cross.html

I have a cunning plan ........

do you travel with loads of luggage ? I prefer to take the train, there's a shuttle bus from the train station every 10-15 minutes

From HK Island I've been doing taxi-train-taxi but my schedule usually means I'm on the crappy non-KTT trains. Thought I'd try a bus if there was one but I've had no luck finding one so far.

Giant, I have to do the same journey quite often.

I take the bus from Wanchai Ferry Pier to Guangzhou (China Hotel), then change to the China Hotel Airport bus to Guangzhou Airport. I find this more convenient, and I can sleep on both buses!!!

I'm normally at the airport in just under 4 hours.
The bus from the China Hotel is every 10 minutes or so...

So that's about the same time as my current journey. A 6.30am departure from home gets me there about 10.30am. However, sleeping on the buses appeals a bit more than the rather noisy train and clanking mad taxi combo I have right now.

Thanks folks.

No. I have business near the airport. And sadly my company will put its employees through any amount of inconvenience to save a few hundred bucks.

ferry to zhuhai and the bus up there then, for sure the cheapest and the most inconvenient trip (by far)

but cheap! 90$ for the ferry and if I remember well less than 100$ for the 2.5h bus trip
