mango, we call that burning fags, not smoking. you are wasting yer money. instead of leaving them on the ashtray or having them in yer mouth without inhaling (i see the builders here doing that everyday), why not lighting one only when you are having a break from work?

When I smoked, my gp said too that whether it was 5 or 25 I was still a smoker.

wanting a cigarette is a psychological thing, not a physical thing.
i used to feel that it was the act of taking a break was what i craved more than the cig itself. The perception of how much you will enjoy your next smoke compared to reality is noteworthably different.

next time you smoke think to yourself - what benefit am i getting from this? - none. Are you really enjoying it as much as you think or you are just afraid that it you give up you will have nothing to look forward to every 15 mins.

One day i became quite sick - not from smoking but i had bad fever and tonsilitis.
It put me off smoking for about 4 days as I lost the urge to smoke. When i recovered, I kept that same feeling in my head and i haven't smoked since.

Completely agree with leon. The Physical (Nicotine) part is out of your body after a few days. The Psychological 'brainwashing' is the bit that stays longer. But once you decide that you no longer want to be brainwashed and would rather control your life rather than let someone else control it then it quickly subsides.
The ironical thing is - the only reason you smoke is to feed this brainwashing.
You know that great feeling when you take that first puff of a fag - well guess what, non-smokers feel as good as that all the time.

You won't believe the lengths places are going to to be able to keep smoking rooms allowed after Jan 07.
A club I belong to was thinking abt banning children on weekends (the only time they are allowed) but our legal consul said it would not fly.
Yippeeeee non smoking coming soon.
Only thing is, the streets will be even more filled with smokers. I can't breathe as it is on Elgin St beause of the open air restaurants. The smoke just sits and never dissipates.

Was so ill the other day when jogging and ran into a cloud of smoke from some old dude toking away on a bench beside the jogging path. Made me stop and have a good coughing fit and the man just sat there and smiled.
I used to smoke 1.5-2 packs a day for about 4 years. I havent smoked a cig since I've been out of korea (june this year). I get the urge every now and then but each time it is weaker and weaker. The way I broke it was stop hanging out with as many smokers, do more exercise, and chew lots of regular chewing gum (not the nic laced kind).
U just gotta find what works for you.

Was a 2 pack a day "lucky strikes" non filter smokes. quit cold turkey style 9 nine years ago. Haven't had the urge since then, considering i spent a lot of time across the border where smoking is the norm in my line of work.
As HKBLOKE says, "its up to the individual" will power.
