Women who only talk to the "boys"

Are you ever in a social gathering and find a number of younger gals will ignore women and only talk to men? I see that a lot in HK. What's the story?

I am not young enough to know everything, as Oscar Wilde once quipped. 
Think there is a plethora of reasons. Anxiousness to please, insecurity, envy, on the hunt, etc.
I have to admit though that the b**chiness between certain kind of women sometimes turns me away too. Needless to say, I am usually drawn to interesting people (whatever that means), whether they are male or female.

I guess it depends on the group of people? Maybe the girls know the blokes better, so they're more comfortable chatting to them than making polite conversation with women they've only just met?
I'm definitely not classed as one of the "younger gals", but I do often find myself the only woman in a group of men e.g. I'm outnumbered at work (at my 'island' of cubicles, I am surrounded by 5 blokes), or on an evening out (frequently I'm the only chica in the group by about 11pm). Not sure why that is; I don't have any problems talking to women... or men, I guess.

This is pretty normal. Most of us like chatting with the oppossite sex. Basic attraction.
Thanks for stating of this point. We could aware: as a woman, we could chat with the same sex.
It could be very supportive and helpful conversation. In some cases, I won't get involved the conversation.. like I was surrounded by 5 men and possibly I won't express any opinions. I will listen what they said.
For me, I am enjoyed listening men talking about business, passion in hobbies or international news.

I'm an equal opportunity social butterfly. I just like to meet people. I am also usually surrounded by men because I'm not shy or quiet and I'm easy to talk to.
Most of the time I make an effort to get everyone involved but lately I am too tired to be the scout master and just let the quiet ones do what they do.

i totally agree with nn
i like talking to the interesting people, whether they are male or female
and i prefer topic more than gender
if the topic is what i am interested in, i am eager to talk more.
i dont know why the younger girls ignore women and only talk to men.
if it's my first time to meet that person, i prefer talking to women because i feel much more comfort
