just read today that china's president hu jintao is officially backing ma ying-jeou as the new leader of the kuomintang party.
how things change....now backing the former enemy and hoping they can win the next election in 2008.
i imagine that the kuomintang party have assured beijing that they will fall in line with the mainland if they win.

Some people are smart enough not wanting to fight walls, especially Great walls. I don't think anyone can compare today's KMT with the former one of Chang Kai Chek. Imo, Chinese better get along with people they understand, rather than playing the sub-poodle of Dubya.
Next election Chen will have to find a better way than to get shot at! Remember?

the last election was very close! 2008 will be an interesting year with the taiwan election and the olympics.
