I know in Paris you can usually negotiate good prices in the hotel lobby (depending on the type of hotel).
Air Europa used to have good flight prices. Not sure if they still exist. Ryan air is cheap, but then you have to fly through England.

I'm bored, I'm pi*sy, and, I have no shame.

For tickets to A'dam: search the net.
For Euro local tickets; go for the low budget airlines.
For Hotels: suggest you to only book for the first night upon arrival. In your case even not needed, I guess.
For the other bookings: buy the recent "Guides Michelin" and check upon arrival in the place.
Did that the last time only 2 months ago.
And before in a former life, I did it in 95% of the cases.

Oh, and don't forget your Super Credit Card! (Sabi is right about getting the most expensive ones, but she forgot to mention I declined her choice in "the Guide" when she found one with a red coloured 3/4 tower hotel symbol.)

Right Hon?

no i have only august as choice and i am going back home.....

i know its warm (not hot sabi) and i have no choice as i wish to bring my son along.....or should i say kids....(2 by then) ....

while in holland/belgium i have places to stay, however paris, barcelona, and Rome i dont have.

chinese tour....no thank you...dont like to spend all my time in travel and see the place only at home once the pictures are developed......aside from that i hate tours....as i like to decide myself when i eat my breakfast and how the day is planned.

anyway.....will first look for a good ticket i guess......

cheers all

Mac,
If you want to check some hotels on the net use the "Net Guide Michelin":
http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/fra/tpl/hme/MaHomePage.htm

To get hotel info you have to register, but it's free. And no problem with spamming afterwards as far as I experienced.

Oh yes, and before I forget: try a nice, real nice bistrot in Paris 5th arrondissement, just in front of the Maritime College of the Sorbonne, close to the quartier Latin. Walking distance from Hotel Les Rives de Notre Dame, which was the one where we were staying.

Address: LES PAPILLES.
30 rue Gay-Lussac 75005 Paris. Phone 01 43 25 20 79.
No tourist trap and real good. Fixed menu, changes every day. Small adjustments are possible.
We paid about 100 Euro for two.
Starters, Main dish, Dessert, Coffee. Bottle of good wine included.
Quality of food: very good.

GdV: If you need to rent a car when in Holland, your best & cheapest bet is BB&L Car Rental in Hoofddorp. I have used them for several years now, cheapest and good service. (Of course they'll bring the car to Schiphol).

http://www.bblcarrental.nl/

.
The problem with instant gratification is that it takes too bloody long...
