Crossing the border yesterday (out and back) I opted for the "e-channel" (with thumb print scanner thing).
Long queues at the "normal" desks, yet e-channels had no queue and was very fast indeed.

It took nearly 20 tries, when I applied for the new identity card, to make a proper read of my thumb print. Wipe, reposition, wipe, rinse, and on and on. Then, when I went to collect the new card, same thing. If that happened at Immigration it would be a nightmare. Don't feel like I can trust the scanner again.

Perhaps the scanner is not so easily able to detect your 'gweilo' white skin.

Sabi,
Maybe you have a contrasting skin colour then.
