Can you figure this out? -
31st August 2005
"Three Friends, A, B & C went to a restaurant. After dinner they asked for the bill, the amount came to $30 /- They decided to pay the bill amount on equal share.
Everybody took out $10 /- each and paid the bill.
The waiter realized that the amount of their bill was $25 /- and not $30 /- He took $ 5 /- from counter and decided to return it to them. Then he thought there are 3 how will they share $5 /- ?
So he decided to keep $2 /- for himself and return only $3 /- to them.
He came to their table and returned them $3 /- with apologies.
Everybody took $1 /-.
Now the question is everyone paid $10 /-
but later they get $1 /- refunded. So everybody paid $9 /-
$9 x 3 = $27 /-
The waiter keeps $2 /- for himself.
$27 + $2 = 29
So...... Where is the remaining $1 /- ???"
I'm sure this has been done before, but can someone explain where the other $1 is?
I only have one life to live.
