Default A dirty shame - John Water's latest movie - 16th June 2005

I just got the newly released DVD and watched last night.

Am a big John Waters fan and loved this movie too. I am giving it 8.5/10, same as I gave Star Wars 3. The film is up there with some of his best. Fans of "Jackass" will be happy to know that Johnny Knoxville has a lead role.

One of the great gifts to modern cinema, John Waters. I once saw a documentary of his career. Woo-hah! A scene near the end of "Pink Flamingos" (and any Waters fan knows which scene I mean) rivals anything else in cinema for pure shock value. Along these lines, I really recommend the website www.imdb.com as the source of information for nearly any movie, actor, etc.

Might have been the same--it's been awhile since I saw it. It had extended interviews with Waters about his motivations and focused on "Making of" Pink Flamingos generally and that special scene in particular. There was also a fair bit about the background of Divine, and also how Waters convinced Divine to do "that scene." (Apparently Divine paid the logical price for awhile afterwards.)
It's fun to see the Waters characters make cameo appearances in later films. "Dirty Shame" started off great but sort of ran out of steam towards the end. Definitely an acquired taste!
